He is running as a Democrat for Dane County Treasurer against incumbent Adam Gallagher and Richard Brown. All three of them are Democrats with no Republicans running, so whoever wins the primary August 9, wins the election. Make sure to get out the vote then! • Patrick shared some concerns he had about the incumbent’s performance o $1 million shortfall with the annual budget o Allowed delinquent property developer in Sun Prairie to buy back own properties and stuck the City of Sun Prairie with a $10,000 unpaid bill o Left out City of Madison residents when doing a lottery tax credit and also gave the refunds incorrectly causing many citizens to be audited by Department of Revenue o There seems to be an “intellectual disconnect” when the incumbent communicates tax information. o The incumbent, Gallagher, has not accomplished his 3 installment/year property tax plan even though that is what he ran his campaign on. o Gallagher has not done any succession planning for deputy treasurer Donna Vogel who is supposed to be retiring very soon. • Patrick shared why he feels he is qualified to be Dane County Treasurer o He would be a guide for local treasurers o He would uphold integrity of tax collection system o He would update tax software o He has been endorsed by 21 Dane County Supervisors and several other elected officials (a higher number of endorsements than for the incumbent.) o He would release tax pressure from taxpayers by encouraging companies to update to renewable/clean energy, which would create more tax base. o As a McFarland board member, he fought against Enbridge until state took away local power to do so. o He will be more involved in TIFF districts than incumbent currently is. o He has certain qualities like… § Being proactive § Striving to improve § Working and listening to citizens and treasury staff § Being a “numbers guy” and detail-oriented § Wisely choosing his battles * Thanks to Abby Lowery for doing the notes for this meeting. • © 2016 Microsoft • Terms • Privacy & cookies • Developers • English (United States)
