DeForest-Windsor Area Grassroots (DWAG)
March 6, 2017
Next meeting: Monday, March 13, 2017, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the DeForest Public Library, 203 Library Street, DeForest.
In attendance March 6th: Marcia Riquelme, Karen Edson, John Scepanski, Ginny Brokish, Stacy Biesel, Pete Zeimet
Marcia handed out a sheet with information from Indivisible on “What Is the Congressional Budget Office” and how this information can be used to further progressive issues.
Most of the meeting was devoted to an appearance by Marilyn Townsend, who gave a presentation and answered questions about her candidacy for Dane County circuit judge. She was raised on a farm in Merrill, Wisconsin, one of eight children. Besides several terms as municipal judge in Shorewood, she has represented poor people and labor unions. She is interested in making sure that the little person’s voice gets heard. She has always been concerned with how the law often disproportionately affects the poor and racial minorities. She listed her many endorsements by people such as Judge Paul Higginbotham. Marcia noted Ms. Townsend’s breadth of experience.
