For the “community intelligence repository,” in her capacity as rep for the 37th District Dane County Democratic Party Executive Board, Karen asked the county chair for a list of members in the 37th. She was informed that they do not keep the lists by district. They sent her the members in DeForest but not in Windsor. Karen has multiple spreadsheets in different formats. Anyone with Excel skills should help Karen with this project.
Marcia sent with Karen an exercise in the identification of community rights that might be included in a DeForest-Windsor bill of community rights. Karen collected the results and will give them to Marcia for further work.
Karen led us in an exercise in messaging. We worked on what the word “entitlement” means and what alternatives to the use of the word might be. Frank came up with the alternative, “earned benefits.”
Peter Johnson is working with the Stein recount in Wisconsin. Abby Lowery signed up for the bus trip from Wisconsin to the upcoming “million woman march” in D.C.
JohnSki has as call into Jake Kurtz, editor of the DeForest Times-Tribune to come to speak to us and Q&A about the paper and current issues in journalism.
Since we’ve lost The Mic 92.1 FM for liberal radio talk in Madison, Frank suggested 820 AM liberal talk radio out of Chicago. Their program is almost the same as The Mic’s was.
Regarding the I-94/90/39 bypass being proposed for Windsor, should we ask elected officials to visit our meetings or hold a public forum or something like that?
We still have no answers to the joke question posed last time: how many progressives does it take to screw in a light bulb. J
After the official meeting, we had much … ahem … venting about the progressive political situation these days.
